Our philosophy is to teach people to move better through practice; to use novelty and intensity to create a fun environment of constant progress; to maintain education as our primary goal for both coaches and clients.

Jesse started CrossFit in June of 2009. He has been in athletics most of his life, growing up wrestling, playing baseball and basketball along with booking thousands of hours of backyard tackle football and living room Nerf football. He followed baseball into college and played 4 years earning first team All-Conference awards and served as a 3 year team captain. His senior year in college he also played football. After a short run at professional baseball he took an assistant coaching position at the University of Findlay in Ohio where he also served as Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach for the baseball team. In 2009 his wife Danielle convinced him to try CrossFit with her; it changed everything he thought about fitness. He earned a Level 1 CrossFit certification and now he loves to share his passion for CrossFit and help anyone who wants to learn how to move better and improve their life.

Danielle also started CrossFit in June of 2009 after being n by her older brother Jason to “just try it out for one week”. It couldn’t have come at a better time as she was desperately searching for a routine to kick the monotony of the Globo gym grind which had yielded less than impressive results. After their very first workout (“Karen”) at CrossFit Legacy in Barberton OH she was hooked (although she couldn’t walk right for a week). Growing up in an athletic family and playing college basketball at the University of Northern Colorado she was no stranger to hard work and competition. Now as a mother and a wife she loves CrossFit for much more than the hard work and competition but also the community and encouraging atmosphere. With a specific passion for nutrition, endurance sports and helping women and moms reach their goals she is excited to show CrossFit Encounter’s clients that they are capable of so much more than they ever thought possible.

KelliI started CrossFit in May 2013 after my husband, Casey convinced me I would love it. He was obviously on to something! I had always thought of myself as being fit.  In high school I ran cross country,  participated in track and field and played basketball.  As a grown up my two kids, hiking and flyfishing kept me active but I was in need of something more.  I was instantly addicted to the challenge of the workouts, wall balls, the healthy lifestyle and most of all the community that comes with joining a box.  I came to Encounter July of 2013 and knew I’d found my spot. I received my Level 1 in February of 2014. Being able to help others improve their fitness and reach goals is an awesome feeling.

I started CrossFit at CrossFit Stapelton in Jan 2012. I have been in athletics most of my life competing in basketball, volleyball and track and field in high school. I was introduced to the concept of olympic lifting in college during track and field where I competed as a sprinter and long/triple jumper. My best friend kept insisting I try out CrossFit even though I was skeptical that it would actually “get my in shape.” After my first WOD was done I was completely hooked. Nothing else has cut the craving since not just because of the physical challenges but the amazing community and companionship that is also developed. I currently hold a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy and coach high school track and field. I have a love and passion for competition and taking care of the human body and find nothing more satisfying then helping others find their true potential in life!

I found CrossFit in November of 2010 at CrossFit Unbroken, as I was looking for a way to get stronger and still keep the motor I had from my years of running and mountain biking. I immediately fell in love with the competitive nature and community I had found. I would say CrossFit has become not just something I do but part of mine and my family’s life. I have been able to get my lovely wife, some of my best friends and family members involved in it. I have a good feeling I will be involved in CrossFit the rest of my life either getting stronger myself or by helping other get stronger, do things they have never done and meet their goals.

brockI walked into my first CrossFit gym the beginning of 2012 pretty oblivious to what CrossFit even was but very clear on my current physical state.  My wife’s Christmas gift to me that year was a few months of CrossFit because I was so out of shape that I no longer had the stamina to enjoy recreational sports and an active lifestyle (I did enjoy a nice belly shelf for my pint glass, though).

I had every intention that after those first few months of getting in shape with CrossFit were over I would rejoin a globo-gym and “stay in shape myself” after that.  It didn’t take long for me to realize however that working out on my own would not only never give me what CrossFit was giving me physically, but would also never give me the community that CrossFit was giving relationally.
A year later, my wife joined CrossFit Encounter and we never looked back.  Health, fitness, and genuine friendship have become an integral part of our lives here at Encounter.  Any day I can help anyone take a step in that direction makes that day that much better.

loI have been competitive and athletic since I can remember. It started with ice hockey at a young age. It provided some fantastic opportunities of traveling and attending prep school in MA and MN. I suffered a back injury in 2001 that put the halt on some amazing hockey dreams and opportunities. On my path to recovery, I used soccer (1 yr post injury) to get back in shape. It proved to be more. I ended up with a college scholarship and collected several accolades in my four years playing. After college I was able to get a job at UNR (in Reno) on the strength and conditioning staff. I worked with the golf teams, swimming and diving, football, and soccer. After NV, I moved around some, using running as a primary method of fitness…that got old. Then by the time I settled into CO, I found FRCF and in a year was competing on the regional team that took 2nd. Crossfit is where I found fitness again. The atmosphere fed my competitiveness, and the community gave me the camaraderie and friendship. Life changes, you jump gyms and then you have a back injury that warrants surgery (like me in 2013). After that I found Encounter. It put a fire back in me to get healthy and strong again…not only by the coaching and their ability to customize, but for the community that they had built. From day one everyone has been incredible and supportive. I am so happy to be a part of the staff here. I want to be able to give back to our Encounter Community what they have given me, as well as be a part of others successful fitness journey.
